Linwood Fabrics - A heritage British brand based in Hampshire
With a firm belief that colour and pattern bring joy to a scheme, Linwood draw on classic English style and imbue it with a contemporary spirit, producing exclusive collections of fabrics, wallpapers and cushions that brim with personality and charm. Working with traditional and newfound materials, Linwood are constantly finding novel ways to innovate, developing sustainable, more ecologically responsible fabrics that are as beautiful as they are practical. Their artistic vision is an individualistic one and so they don’t offer a specific Linwood look: rather, every collection that they produce – be it pleasing small-scale prints or quintessentially English botanicals; informal plain linens or sumptuous printed velvets – is driven by a desire to captivate and delight, bringing a playful, distinctive style to all manner of interiors.
Founded in 1994, Linwood is a third-generation family-run business based in Hampshire, that takes its name from the small village in the picturesque New Forest where its current directors grew up. Their talented design team finds inspiration in a wealth of sources and the walls of their creative studio are covered with their finds, from an exquisitely coloured Japanese kimono to ancient Byzantine textiles to a painting from a Buddhist temple. Linwood still sketch and paint by hand, exploring different effects in watercolour or gouache until they perfect the look of each design. Linwood work with people they know and trust, producing many of their collections in Britain, as well as Europe and further afield. Their selected mills bring generations of expertise in printing techniques, colours, and materials, so their fabrics are imbued with rich, saturated hues that are unique to Linwood.
